HOW WE MAKE OUR SOAP

The care behind every bar

No soap base. Every My Naked Bar soap is formulated and handcrafted in small batches in Singapore using the cold-process method.

From the oils we choose to how much scent goes in, we make deliberate decisions around skin comfort, how the bar performs in the shower, and the experience we want it to give you.

GOOD FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

Our Method

What Is Cold Process Soap?

Cold process is a traditional method of making soap from scratch.
It starts with simple, honest ingredients.

Oils (Acid)

We start with nourishing plant-based oils and butters.

Sodium Hydroxide
(Alkali)

A necessary ingredient that helps turn oils into soap.

Cold Process
Soap Bars

Through a natural reaction called saponification, oils and alkali transform into soap.

Glycerin

Naturally formed as a by-product and retained in our soap.

In cold process soap making, glycerin is not added – it is naturally produced.
We keep it in because it is great for the skin.

WHY WE CHOOSE COLD PROCESS SOAP
1

FULL CONTROL OVER INGREDIENTS AND FORMULATION

We choose every ingredient including their source with care.

We formulate only using natural and plant-based ingredients with users in mind.

2

GLYCERIN - NATURE'S GEM

Glycerin is a natural by-product of saponification and is retained in our soaps.

It draws in moisture and helps keep skin feeling comfortable.

3

NO EXTRA HEAT, LET NATURE TAKE ITS COURSE

Saponification generates its own heat. We do not need to provide external heat.

We give the process time and space so nature can do its work.

4

ABLE TO SUPERFAT TO NOURISH

We can superfat our recipes with extra oils and butters.

This leaves a little goodness behind to nourish and care for your skin after cleansing.

Handcrafted in small batches

Mix

We watch the texture closely to gauge when the batter is ready, because every soap recipe behaves differently.

Pour

Small batches let us pour with care and respond to the character of each formula as it takes shape.

Cut

Every loaf is cut by hand, so each bar carries the slight variations that come with real craft.

Stamp

Each bar is stamped by hand, one at a time, with the small irregularities that make it unmistakably handmade.

Cure

The bars are left to cure for at least one month, becoming harder, longer lasting and able to lather more beautifully over time.

It is a slower way to make soap. After each batch is crafted, the bars are left to cure for at least one month before they are ready.

THE CURE MATTERS

WHY WE WAIT AT LEAST ONE MONTH

After cutting, our bars are left to cure for at least one month.

This helps excess water evaporate, so the bar becomes harder, longer lasting and able to lather more beautifully over time.

It also gives each bar time to settle properly before it reaches your bathroom.

Made with purpose

formulated for different skin needs

Skin needs, bathing habits and scent preferences are personal.

That is why we formulate each bar with a specific purpose, skin feel or use experience in mind, from simpler bars with no added scent to essential-oil bars, face bars, everyday shower bars and occasional scrub bars.

All our soap bars are kept vegan, so they can be as accessible and inclusive as possible for a wider group of users.
